In Contrast, this home is all about drama and opulence. The client had collected and inherited a number of very ornate European antiques and wanted to place them in a period, or historical, setting. We used old-world style, damask wallpapers and elaborate window treatments to set the mood.

The taupe, silk, Austrian valance with tassel trim creates the right balance for the magnificent, nineteenth-century, Venetian
mirror across the room.

We purchased a very large crystal and hurricane glass chandelier to pull your eye into the dining room. Faux finishes on the ceiling, trim and dado wrap the space in formality.

The cornices above the brocade window treatments were custom made in a style similar to the crown molding and become part of the roomís architecture.

We acquired the La Barge mirror, sterling tea set, pair of Rose Medallion vases and the mahogany server at various auctions over the
course of a year.

This dining room isnít large, but there are layers of detail that give it depth and ambiance.
